Look out, it's Gemini Season
Even if you're not into all that astrological stuff, there's no denying that those born between May 21st and June 20th represent some of the most unique and powerful among us.
It makes sense that so many artists fall under Gemini. After all, Gemini is ruled by Mercury, the God of Communication, Commerce, and Travel.
Scorpio / Gemini pairings
I’m a Scorpio married to a Gemini. Traditionally, that can make quite the pairing. Passionate, creative, tumultuous, controversial, fiery. To wit:
Lenny Kravitz (Gemini) / Lisa Bonet (Scorpio)
Martin Scorsese (Scorpio) / Isabella Rossellini (Gemini)
Vivien Leigh (Scorpio) / Laurence Olivier (Gemini)
Susan Tedeschi (Scorpio) / Derek Trucks (Gemini)
As for my irrepressible, vivacious wife and me, after 15 years together, 11 of them married, it’s never a dull moment, as (Capricorn) Rod Stewart once said. She has an ever-widening list of new things she wants to try, and she values and thrives on creativity. She’s anything but predictable, and this Scorpio wouldn’t want it any other way.
I suppose hitching my wagon to a Gemini was bound to happen, as once I started looking into it, I discovered that I’ve been fascinated with those born under the sign of the twins for most of my life. Here are a few…
Famous Geminis
Bob Dylan (May 24)
It would stand to reason that the first—and so far only—songwriter to be awarded the Nobel Prize for Literature would be a Gemini.
Kendrick Lamar (June 17)
Speaking of firsts, it would also stand to reason that the first hip-hop artist to win a Pulitzer would be a Gemini.
Marilyn Monroe (June 1)
My first celebrity crush, and probably yours, too.
Prince (June 7)
Gemini is also a master of the sideways bathtub pose.
Waylon Jennings (June 15)
They’re also natural-born outlaws.
Brandi Carlile (June 1)
…blazing their own trail.
Sturgill Simpson / Johnny Blue Skies (June 8)
In doing so, they’ve even been known to assume aliases.
Morgan Freeman (June 1)
They’re also easy readers and fine thespians who, in fact, could easily narrate this post.
Lauryn Hill (May 26)
Gemini has also been known to be quite unpredictable….
André 3000 (May 27)
…unpredictable to the point they may release an album of new age flute music…
Angelina Jolie (June 4)
…and they can be a little nuts.
Howlin’ Wolf (June 10)
But they have their hidden charms…
Paul McCartney (June 18)
And there’s no denying their creativity…
Tupac Shakur (June 16)
…their artistry…
Miles Davis (May 26)
…their restless, innovative spirit…
Stevie Nicks (May 26)
…their beauty…
Pattie LaBelle (May 24)
…or their drive.
Alanis Morissette (June 1)
You oughta know not to cross ‘em.
Melissa Etheridge (May 29)
…they’ll most likely write a song or two about it.
Rosanne Cash (May 24)
…or an entire album.
Curtis Mayfield (June 7)
Because one thing they have plenty of is soul.
Dean Martin (June 7)
But hey, that’s amore.
Gene Wilder (June 11)
They’re also most likely the funniest people you know.
Johnny Depp (June 9)
As I said, they can be (more than) a little nuts….
Kylie Minogue (May 28)
…but either way, you can’t get ‘em out of your head.
So give your favorite Gemini a little love this season, and if I missed someone notable in your world, let me know in the comments.
The Gemini Mixtape
Oh, of course, there’s a Mixtape.
