My sole encounter with Mojo live was during a short tour by The Pleasure Barons at Fitzgerald’s in Houston in 1993. The “all-star revue” was led by Country Dick, Mojo, and Dave Alvin, with John Doe, Katy Moffatt, Rosie Flores, and the drummers from X and The Blasters. They came out in loud tuxes and prom dresses and did a bunch of covers before rotating through their own “greatest hits.” It was a riot and a joy to watch.

I must thank God for the hangover mulligan I received the next morning. It was that kind of night.

For 21 years, it was at the top as the best show I’ve seen (usurped narrowly by The Replacements at Forest Hills Stadium) and still remains #2 after hundreds of concerts.

RIP, Country Dick and Mojo. I’m so glad the others are still with us and continuing to make music.

Oh, the Cradle is still very much still around, it just moved down the street.

I’m with you: I saw the Reverend Billy, Southern Culture on the Skids, Flat Duo Jets, Billy Joe and Eddy Shaver, Buddy Guy, Hege V, and oh, dozens more there over the years. Truly a legendary venue.

This takes me back. I loved Cat's Cradle. Sittin in the front row with my feet propped up on the edge of the low stage watching The Red Clay Ramblers or New Grass Revival and the great rockabilly and psychobilly of Mojo and Skid,or The Reverend Billy C Wirtz. Loved seeing Dexter Romweber and The Flat Duo Jets too but I think Cat' s Cradle was gone by then. First saw Dex at a Friends (Quaker) School garage sale.
