I booked him in this time frame when I was running a venue. I absolutely acknowledge all that he has done. God, we owe him so much for the players he brought through. But, he was an insufferable asshole, as was literally every player who came through the Bluesbreakers. One of the worst nights of my musical life was dealing with Montoya. I know being a blues man in the 90s was hard, but these dudes are a squad I could have done with out.

Oh, man. I've run across that type many times. We all have bad days I tell myself, so I try to give those kinds of "difficult" artists a wide berth and some extra slack. Doesn't make it any more pleasant, though. Also, I'm sure dealing with them on a business level is a whole different ballgame than working with them through the public relations side.

But it's all ultimately public relations, isn't it?

Thanks for reading!

I watch Coco Montoya berate a woman DANCING IN FRONT OF HIM, for not listening to his solo. Then he was a dick to me when I was giving him MORE money than his garauntee. Trout, before he got sick was unbearably macho and nuts in a bad way. I have been lucky enough to spend a bunch of time with Clapton through mutual friends, and aside from his political nonsense, I find him quite nice. But, every time I was near him he was with some people that I know he loves deeply.
