Joe Ely, one of the Lone Star State's greatest sons, shrugged at fame and settled for the love of making music.
Thank you for this
I first saw Joe Ely in Brighton 50 years ago around the time of his first album, and have loved his music ever since.
Excellent playlist, but I'd have to include 'Are You Listenin' Lucky?' which is one of the most exciting rock performances I've ever heard.
Beautiful piece, Michael. I first learned about Joe Ley when REM, Robyn Hitchcock, and Billy Bragg covered Dallas in 1991. I was fortunate to have a couple older music head friends point me to Joe's music.
December sure hasn't been good to the music community.
