PS……You mention jazz was available on 45s. I have dozens of 78s and hundreds of jazz albums but I can’t say I’ve ever even seen a jazz “single” and I’ve done my share of crate digging.
I’m familiar with all this music but you include some interesting facts. Marty Robbins recording so many songs in such a short time, Lieber (wasn’t Carol King married to Lieber)and Stoller writing a number of the songs featured and I had forgotten Ben E. King was once a Flamingo. Thanks for the fun post!
